Portrait Painting and Social Anthropology

Zoe Bray, social anthropologist and painter:

As part of my research on art and politics, I have been working this past three weeks at Beita, painting the portraits of different individuals from the community. As a trained naturalist painter, I use portraiture as a method and medium of anthropological inquiry.

My residency at Beita will come to an end on Friday July 3, and we will share the final process and outcome with a little reception,  1.30 – 3.30 pm. (Beita, 155 Jaffa Street, Jerusalem)
