Law and Order: Social Order in segregated Communities in the Israeli Society

Call for papers: Original Research and theoretical Articles for an edited Book in English:

Law and Order: Social Order in segregated Communities in the Israeli Society

Efrat Shoham and Doron Shlomi (Eds.)

Strengthening and preserving the existing social order in the differential cultural communities in the Israeli society is a topic suitable for a multi-discipline research. The multicultural diversity in the Israeli society is reflected in the formal and informal supervision mechanisms operating in many communities, such as the Arab-, the ultra-Orthodox-, the immigrant-, the prisoner-, the migrant worker-, and the refugee-communities.

Construction of social order in the Israeli society involves complex processes within and among these communities, as well as between them and the Israeli law enforcement system. Maintaining the existing social order brings to the fore a wide range of issues, such as the informal supervision in closed communities, over- or under-policing, power and control relationships, delinquency and social deviation in segregated communities, trust in the law enforcement system, conflict between formal and informal systems, cultural diversity and the legal system, and the like.

Social scientists, and law and humanity researchers whose research is related to the subject outlined above, are invited to submit original English language articles of up to 9,000 words(including references, footnotes and bibliography written in line with APA guidelines). The article should include an abstract of up to 250 words. The manuscripts will undergo the customary peer review, and will be published by academic press. The articles should be submitted by September 30st, 2020 to Ms. Irit Adamchuk-Kleban, Sham Institute's Information and Research Coordinator, airitklb1@aac.ac.il.
